Hello, I'm Max Ruf, the founder of Samaru Flutes. Let me tell you how my journey into the fascinating world of Native American flutes began.
It was on a balmy evening when my partner and I headed to a singing circle. I was 30 years old at the time and had no idea that this evening would change my life forever. There, amidst the music and fellowship, my partner saw a drone flute for the first time. Its captivating sound sparked her curiosity, and she was determined to own one herself. In a moment of inspiration, I promised her that I would build her this unique flute.
I originally studied mechanical engineering, but found little fulfillment in a job that kept me trapped in an office for nine hours a day. The desire to break free from this hamster wheel drove me on. The magical moment came when I first played my own handmade flute. The direct access to the instrument was like a "wow" effect that overwhelmed me. The joy of building this flute and the opportunity to play it immediately made me realize that this was my calling.
So I founded Samaru Flutes, with the dream of sharing my flutes and artwork with the world. The thought that my creations could reach and inspire people all over the world motivates me anew every day. And on this journey of creativity and passion, my partner stands by my side, supporting me unconditionally and being my greatest muse.
